What to know.

01

Age-appropriate from day one

Good junior coaching uses red, orange and green ball progressions, so young children rally early and build proper technique without frustration. Sessions for young children are often shorter — each coach lists session lengths on their profile.

02

Groups with neighbours

Where a coach offers group sessions, book one and add players up to the coach's maximum. Community courts in Dubai Hills, Arabian Ranches and The Springs suit after-school groups.

03

Pathway to competition

When a child is ready to compete, look for coaches who list competitive or high-performance coaching — they can build a tournament plan and coordinate training with parents.

Questions

Kids tennis coaching: your questions.

What age can my child start tennis?

From around four, using soft red balls and small rackets. A good coach adapts sessions to attention span and coordination.

How are kids' coaches checked?

Every coach is reviewed by the TNA Play team before their profile goes live. Coaches list their certifications on their profile — ask about safeguarding or child-protection training before you book.

Can parents watch?

Usually, yes — check with the court or venue.
